26th November, 2016: Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, has joined hands with leading banks of the country to help citizens fight cash crunch post demonetisation of old currency notes. In Kolkata, Ola has partnered with Punjab National Bank (PNB) to put up mobile ATMs in its cabs to support citizens by reducing the effort of going to a bank. The week-long activity, that serviced thousands of citizens on day one, will continue till end of the month; and will visit areas like Chandni Chowk Metro Station, Esplanade Metro, Barabazaar, Salt Lake, Exide and Rashbehari. Ola has also rolled out a similar activity for the people in Hyderabad, in partnership with State Bank of India and Andhra Bank. Cars carrying mobile ATMs machine are servicing citizens in popular areas like KBR Park, JNTU, Inorbit Mall over the weekend.

The ongoing nationwide initiative, that has been rolled out in Kolkata and Hyderabad, will soon be flagged off in other key cities of the country. Ola is dedicating hundreds of cars in each city; and is also providing on-ground bank executives and volunteers to enable people withdraw cash seamlessly.
Shobit Jain, Software Engineer in a US based MNC said, “This is a great move by Ola. There are such long queues at banks and ATMs; and it is practically impossible to leave office and stand in queues to withdraw money. I have been trying to get some money out for over a week now but finally was able to withdraw money today because of Ola’s mobile ATM cab. I hope Ola continues this activity for a few more weeks and takes it to other cities too.”
