Bengaluru, January 04, 2016: Adding more convenience and affordability in the shared mobility segment; Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, extends its recently launched feature, ‘Share Express’ to over 100 routes. Share Express makes ridesharing seamless and more affordable for customers making Ola Share rides further cheaper by 30%. Share Express runs along popular fixed routes of a city and customers whose pickup and drop-off locations coincide with the fixed routes can book a ride from the Share icon on their Ola app. Ola plans to extend Share Express to over 300 routes in 10 cities in the near future.

Raghuvesh Sarup, CMO and Head of Categories at Ola, said, “Having pioneered shared mobility in India, it is one of the key focus areas for Ola which enables far reaching benefits of reduced pollution and congestion on Indian roads. Ola Share is the most preferred and advanced ride-sharing offering in India today. Our latest product feature for shared rides – called Share Express – makes Ola Share even more affordable and flexible, with rides starting as low as Rs. 30 for a 4 km ride. Advanced algorithms matches a customer only with others who are travelling on that fixed route.” He further added, “With the introduction of Share Express, we aim to decongest the busiest routes in our busiest cities, while ensuring  a quicker commute for our users.”

Share Express rides operates only on fixed routes, a customer’s boarding and drop points would be on the fixed route but within walking distance; much like MRTs, only there are no fixed stops or designated timings for the Share Express users. A customer can book a Share Express along available routes on demand, working like a public transport line with infinite stops, arriving at their convenience. Running across popular routes in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Jaipur; Share Express covers more than 100 busiest routes in these cities, and is available for users at 30% lower rates, with no en-route deviations or peak pricing.

How does Ola Share Express work?

An Ola Share user needs to select the Share icon on his/her Ola app; and enter his/her start and end points on the app. If the entered route falls under the ‘Express routes’ then a customer will be given an option to either book a ride through Share Express or go for a regular Ola Share ride.
