Ahmedabad, 22nd September, 2017: In line with UN’s theme for this year’s World Tourism Day, Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) is supporting Ola with its initiative to promote responsible tourism. Other than TCGL, Ola is also working with other key Tourism Corporations of some of the biggest states of the country like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Assam.

To mark the tourism month, Ola has rolled out an exciting 14-day long campaign, which will see famous actress and vlogger Shenaz Treasury travel to 7 states, re-discovering 21 different lesser-known locations with Ola Outstation – Ola’s smart mobility solution for inter-city travel. The campaign that was flagged off from Bengaluru, Karnataka on 16th September, has now entered its fourth leg with Shenaz arriving in Gujarat state on 22nd September. In Gujarat, Shenaz will travel to Ahmedabad, explore Sabarmati, Vintage car museum, and Patan, before heading to Kerala

With Gujarat eyeing a 15% rise in tourist arrival in the coming year, promoting responsible tourism is imperative; and Gujarat being a large state with tourist destinations spread all across, encouraging people to plan road trips becomes easier with a smart solution like Ola Outstation.

Mr. Jenu Devan (IAS), Managing Director & Commissioner of Tourism said, “Tourism in Gujarat is increasing at a rapid pace as the state has a rich cultural heritage as well as scenic splendor. With the objective of guiding and helping discerning travellers who would love to spend their vacations in the state, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd has taken many initiatives to boost tourism infrastructure in the state. We appreciate Ola for rolling out this unique campaign, and we hope that it will help in unraveling many new tourist destinations and will popularise road trips across the state, thereby taking tourism in Gujarat to next level.”

Vijay Ghadge, VP of Operations at Ola said, “With Ahmedabad being named as India’s first world heritage city by UNESCO, the influx of both domestic and international tourists in the state is going to be more than ever. We are delighted to have been supported by TCGL for our efforts and are delighted to be chosen to play a significant role in building the tourism ecosystem of the state through Ola Outstation, our inter-city smart commuting solution. With Ola Outstation, we are aiming to make outstation travel as convenient and reliable as daily commute; coupled with Ola Play, it makes for the best ride in town to hit the roads.” He further added,“Our research reveals that most outstation rides are planned between September to December; with this campaign, we intend to make those trip more responsible, enjoyable and affordable. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to help citizens experience our country’s rich culture and history to hundreds of thousands of people, using our platform.”

Shenaz Treasury, actress and travel vlogger said, “I have travelled across several countries and continents, but India holds a special place in my heart, every single state has something unique to offer. Being a passionate traveller, I strongly feel that the preservation of our natural and cultural heritage across the country is facing a grave threat. There is now a need more than ever for us to travel consciously, respectfully, and responsibly. From avoiding littering to encouraging local economy, there is a lot each one of us can do that will go a long way in keeping the country’s cultural legacy intact. I am thrilled to partner with Ola, be the flag-bearer of this message, and embark on what I am certain, will be an exciting journey of exploring Gujarat’s gastronomy, rich history, and architecture by road with Ola Outstation. Shenaz further adds, “I encourage people to take the road less travelled, explore the abundant offbeat locations. Take road trips, soak in some breathtaking experiences, and enjoy the scenic landscapes that our country has to offer.”

Ahmedabad, India’s second well planned city after Chandigarh offers a wide range of spectacular attractions, pilgrim centers and historical places that are left unexplored due to accessibility issues and lack of awareness. With this campaign, Ola with the support of Gujarat Tourism hopes to bring these places to light by discovering the undiscovered beauty of Gujarat.
